RESIDENT PARKING PERMIT
(RPP)
A Residential Parking Permit (RPP) is a free, vehicle-specific parking permit
issued by the Town of Banff and is available to all Banff residents whose
vehicles are legally registered in the Province of Alberta and where the vehicle
registration indicates a Banff address (physical Banff address, Banff PO box or
both).
RPPs are valid for one year unless otherwise noted.
RPPs are also available for special circumstances where the applicant is only
in Banff temporarily (maximum 6 months) for the purpose of employment. Other
situations may qualify such as vehicle repair shop loaners
RPPs allow the permitted vehicle to park for free in the Pay Parking Zone for
up to 3 hours as well as in the Residential Parking Zone for up to 72 hours.
Permit holders must sign in on either a pay station or on the parking app or
web portal to verify their free parking sessions. All posted regulations and
regulations in the Town of Banff Road Sidewalk and Trail Use Bylaw 16-9 still apply.
Anyone applying for an RPP must first create a user account with the Town of
Banff.
Licensed Businesses
A holder of a current Town of Banff Business License is also eligible to apply
for a RPP as long as the vehicle associated with the RPP is registered in the
licensed business name.
Where an RPP is issued to a business, the intent is that the permitted vehicle
is used for business purposes including but not limited to deliveries for that
specific business, trades vehicles requiring parking near workplaces in the
residential parking zones and the provision of general transportation for
employees of the business.
RPPs will not be issued to businesses whose business license is not current and
paid as per the Town of Banff Business License Bylaw.
RPPs are not available for taxi or rental car fleets or for Commercial Passenger Buses with capacity of more than 10 passengers.
RPPs issued for licensed businesses allow the permitted vehicle to park for
free in the Pay Parking Zone for up to 3 consecutive hours as well as in the
Residential Parking Zone for up to 72 hours. All posted regulations and
regulations in the Town of Banff Road Sidewalk and Trail Use Bylaw 16-9 still apply.
Any business applying for an RPP must first create a business user account with
the Town of Banff.
