Welcome to the Town of Banff’s Resident Parking Permit
Portal.
Please follow all instructions carefully. Any errors or omissions may cause a delay of 7-10 business days or full rejection of your Resident Parking Permit application.
PLEASE NOTE: If you have any outstanding unpaid parking fines issued by the Town of Banff, your permit applications may be rejected until they are resolved.
You will need to first create an account to then apply for a Resident Parking Permit or Guest Parking Permits.
There are several categories of Resident Parking Permits (RPPs):
- RPP-Resident Parking Permit. This permit is for full time residents of Banff. Your vehicle registration MUST be for the province of Alberta and MUST have a Banff address (box #, physical address or both). This permit expires 1 year after the application/validation date. You may apply for a new permit up to 30 days before expiration date of your current permit.
- RPP-Banff Business Licence Holder. This permit is for vehicles registered to businesses with valid Town of Banff Resident or non-Resident Business Licences. NOTE: The vehicle MUST be registered to the Licenced Business. This permit expires 1 year after the application/validation date. You may apply for a new permit up to 30 days before expiration date of your current permit.
- RPP-Temp Resident Parking Permit 3 Month Max. This permit is for newly arrived residents to allow time to switch your out of province vehicle registration to Alberta. NOTE You may not re-new this permit after 3 months.
- RPP-Temp Worker Parking Permit 6 Month Max. This permit is for individuals whose primary physical address is outside of Alberta who are temporarily residing in Banff for no longer than 6 months for the purposes of employment, and their vehicle registration is not registered with a Banff address. NOTE You may not re-new this permit after 6 months
- RPP-Resident's Rental or Repair Shop Loaner. This permit may also be used when you are temporarily using a rental vehicle or if you have a repair shop loaner (you will be required to submit the rental or repair shop agreement in the name of the RPP account holder) NOTE This permit has a maximum duration of 14 days, however you can renew the permit should you require the rental or loaner for a longer period of time.
Guest Parking Permit (GPP)
- GPP-Guest Parking Permits. If you live in the Controlled Parking Zone or in the Pay Parking Zone you are eligible to apply for GPP permits. You can apply for GPPs from 1 to 14 permit days. Each address is allowed up to 120 GPP permit days per year. NOTE that any permitted vehicle must still adhere to any other parking and traffic regulations. Guest Parking Permits are not eligible for the free three hours per day in the downtown payment required zone.
Please
have the following available before you begin the permit application process:
- Your
vehicle registration (PDF or photo) Please ensure that the pdf or photo of your registration shows the licence plate number, the vehicle owner's name and your Banff address. Vehicle insurance or photos of your licence plate are not acceptable as proof of vehicle registration.
- Proof of your physical residence in Banff (if you live in the Controlled Parking Zone). A PDF or photo of utility bill, landlord letter, lease agreement, etc. is acceptable as long as it shows the RPPs applicant's name as well as the name and contact info of the landlord or the landlord's agent. Remember, if you live in the Controlled Parking Zone this proof MUST indicate your BANFF physical address.
- Proof of your physical residence in Banff is required if your vehicle registration does not specify a Banff Post Office Box number (for temporary 3 or 6 month permits), or if are applying for a Resident Parking Permit and you live in the Controlled Parking Zone and would therefore be eligible for the added benefit to be able to apply for Guest Parking Permits.
Also, please be
aware if you live inside the Controlled Parking Zone or outside the Controlled Parking Zone. Check the Map for Details.
